Sides

While it's true that all of the recipes in this section play second fiddle to main dishes, there are cases where side dishes can transform a good entree into a superstar "10".  For example, I sometimes choose my main course in a restaurant based of the style of potato that is served with it.

To scan the Recipes in the Sides Section, click here and select either "Sides" or the more specific: Grains, Potatoes, or Vegetables categories from the Search Category drop down list.

Highlights

Mustard Roast PotatoesIn the Potato Section, I recommend the Old Fashioned Roast Potatoes without reservation - they are the best ever.   The Mustard Roast Potatoes are pretty good too.  Both of these go with most meat dishes and even with salmon.

In the Vegetable Section, don't miss the Creamed Parsnips with Wasabi - it's a great taste with beef and not too spicy.  The Turnip Casserole is the best way to get non-turnip eaters to love turnips.  We have never made a turkey dinner without this delicious side dish.

The Wild Rice Casserole in the Grains Section is an outstanding accompaniment for Cornish Game Hens and would also stand alone as a vegetarian main dish.

Don't forget the Miscellaneous Section.  The Baked Beans are always a number one favourite at any group picnic we've taken them to.  The Southern-Style BBQ Baked Beans are essential with Kansas City Ribs (or any ribs for that matter).  They have a rich BBQ taste that make the ribs taste even better.
